Jenny Hartmann

Legal Counsel, Axiom

Germany

Bio

Jenny qualified as a Lawyer in 2016 from Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena and started her career in the Thuringian Ministry of Economy, Science and Digital Society, and The Ministry of Migration, Justice, and Consumer Protection, where she started specializing in Data Privacy. Jenny is starting a Masters in Legal Tech at the University of Regensburg this autumn.

Contribution to Legal Tech

She joined the alternative legal service provider Axiom in 2018. She helps inhouse legal departments of international companies to develop or implement digital solutions for their Data Privacy processes. Having worked for multinational companies which specialize in high-end consumer goods, she used legal tech tools to address data protection subject requests of high volume. Making sure to fulfill the request in an accurate and timely manner, and therefore maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. She helped develop the tool to ensure GDPR compliance.•Moving on to a multinational insurance company, she paved the way for the implementation of similar tools for management of high-volume data protection incidents and subject requests.

Taking part in the Global Legal Hackathon 2020, Jenny is part of the team of finalists, Skillerator. Skillerator, the app, has been created to solve the access to justice problem. Visa applications for skilled workers are a major obstacle for economic growth, despite legislative reform on policies relating to employment and migration.

Skillerator allows for the processing of visa applications in a simplified and logical manner, resulting in lower costs and much shorter processing time, so workers and employers can have their needs fulfilled.  Skillerator has created a one-stop-shop for the Visa application process, and this one-stop-shop is going to allow skilled workers to stop anywhere they want and where they are needed.  This legal tech tool is further enhanced by the simple fact that it can be used by anyone or any type of organization.

Due to her previous experience, Jenny wants to focus on the Internet of Things and its implications on Contract Law and Data Privacy while studying for her Masters.  In particular, the conflict between Contract Law, Data Privacy Law, and the true capabilities of the Internet of Things.
