Nicola Shaver is the Managing Director of Innovation and Knowledge at Paul Hastings, based in New York. She is responsible for setting innovation strategy at the firm, including driving innovation initiatives globally and leading teams responsible for leveraging innovative technology solutions on behalf of the firm’s attorneys and clients. A former lawyer from Sydney, Australia, Nicola is passionate about driving positive change in the legal industry. She leverages principles from agile methodology, design thinking, Lean Six Sigma and change management strategy to run her teams and drive adoption, and is co-founder of Legaltech Hub, a platform that provides a free search across the world’s most comprehensive directory of legal technology for the commercial legal market. In 2020, Nicola was named ILTA’s Innovative Leader of the Year. 

Markus Hartung, lawyer and mediator (www.markushartung.com), is founder of the Bucerius Center on the Legal Profession (CLP) at Bucerius Law School, Hamburg. From 2010 to 2019, he was managing director of the Center. Today, as Senior Fellow, he continues his research focusing on market development and trends, management and strategic leadership as well as corporate governance of law firms and business models of law firms with regard to digitalisation of the legal market. 

He is member of the Committee on Professional Regulation of the German Bar Association (DAV) chairing the Committee from 2011 to 2019, and is Co-Founder of ELTA – The European Legal Technology Association.•As a lawyer he focuses on conflict management, regulatory matters and professional indemnity issues. In addition, he advises law firms in strategy and management questions and coaches partners in management functions. Recently he co-founded the CHEVALIER Law Firmwhich is a Legal Tech Firm focusing on employment law exclusively for employees.•He is a regular lecturer and conference-speaker on leadership, management topics and professional ethics and has written numerous articles and book chapters on these topics.

He is is a co-editor and author of “Wegerich/Hartung: Der Rechtsmarkt in Deutschland” (“The Legal Market in Germany”) which came to the market in 2014 and has developed into a standard reference for the German legal market. His co-published and co-authored book “Legal Tech. How Technology is Changing the Legal World. Laura leads innovation and venturing for Deloitte Legal. In her innovation capacity she works closely with Deloitte Legal’s teams to identify opportunities to creatively solve clients problems using emerging technology. In her venturing capacity she partners, invests or acquires start-ups to accelerate the launch of new products and services for internal or client use. Her background is a blend of legal, technology and change consulting.
